About UsThistle Glen School of Highland Dancing was established in 2015 under the direction of Heather Belanger. Dance is our passion and we wish to share it with others. Our school is committed to helping our dancers develop important life-skills as well as create lasting relationships between other dancers and the highland community. Our studio offers classes for both competitive and recreational dancers in west Edmonton.

HEATHER BELANGER |
Heather Belanger grew up in Calgary dancing under the direction of Laureen McLaren. Upon moving to Edmonton, she trained with the Strathcona School of Dance under Kelly Abrahart and Bill Troock. Heather had a very rewarding career as a dancer. She successfully competed in competitions and championships across Canada, the United States, and Scotland. In addition to competitions, Heather enjoyed showcasing traditional dances and choreographies at various venues. Some highlights include performances at: Epcot Centre, Calgary Stampede Grandstand Show, Stirling Castle, Military Tattoos, and as a former member of the RCMP K Division Pipes and Drums.
Heather started teaching dance at the Calgary School of Highland Dance. When she moved to Edmonton, she taught at Dance Dynamics and Strathcona School of Dance. Heather is a Fellow SDTA member and on the RSOBHD Adjudicators Panel. Outside of dancing, Heather is a teacher with Edmonton Public Schools. When she is not teaching, she enjoys travelling and spending time family. |
RICHELLE EDWARDS |
Richelle Edwards has been a competitive Highland dancer for 20 years, competing all across Canada and in the United States, and performing at many local and international events. She has represented Canada as part of the Canadiana Celtic Highland Dancers at the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo in 2012 and the Basel Tattoo in 2016 and as part of an International Dance Team at the Basel Tattoo in 2013. Her love and passion for Highland dancing drove her to complete her teaching certifications and SDTA Fellowship. She also is a RSOBHD Judge.
Richelle has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Alberta and is currently working on furthering her education. Apart from dancing, Richelle loves travelling, reading, and spending time with family and friends. *Richelle is currently on leave from the studio. |
